Oh! To Learn More About France!

It goes without saying that I have a secret longing to spend more time in France, and this year I’ve not been able to visit. I have however embarked upon a new challenge; I’m starting a degree in Cultural Studies and French, what better way to enhance my own knowledge and share it with you!

At 46, I feel it’s the perfect time to do this. I’ve lived in several countries and have had a career and it’s now time for me to follow my passion. As my daughter grows, I am finding I have a little more time on my hands so it seems that to spend spare moments immersing myself in what I love is a privilege – not a chore. Of course, it also means that I will be able to share more about the realities of living in France, because part of my research and assignments will be comparing different regions.

I’m starting on Monday 8th October and am looking forward to every moment of it. The Open University offers a diverse and flexible range of studies and I think I’m fortunate to have been able to find exactly what I’m interested in. Who knows, later down the line I may be putting my qualifications to good use; I’m hoping to buy a house in France after all, and will be able to settle much more easily if I am fluent. I may even end up teaching languages, you just never know!

I guess the message of this post is a simple one. Take opportunities because it’s never too late to try something new. Embrace every moment!
